St Maarten (St Martin) is a tropical caribbean island located to the southeast of Puerto Rico. The island is split in half between France and the Netherlands (Holland). The Dutch half in the south forms part of the Netherlands Antilles. The French half in the north is classified as an overseas collectivity of France.

The main town on the Dutch side is Philipsburg and on the french side its Marigot. Property is available on both halves of the island and the developments tend to be designed in the style of the host country.
